DreamHack has announced that Liquid have been invited to compete at the upcoming Masters event in Malmö.
The North American giants bring the team count for the showpiece event to four, joining OpTic, who earned a spot through winning DreamHack Open Summer, and the previously invited duo of Astralis and fnatic.
Liquid are currently at the top of the rankings, with almost twice as many points as their closest suitor, Vitality. They are on a streak of five straight Big Events and could equal Astralis' record if they come out on top of IEM Chicago, which kicks off on Thursday.
This will be the Liquid's second trip to Malmö, after attending the 2016 event, where they went out 13th-16th (Nick "nitr0" Cannella and Jonathan "EliGE" Jablonowski are the only players left from that line-up). They will travel to Sweden as the reigning DreamHack Masters champions after winning the event in Dallas, where they beat ENCE in the final.
DreamHack Masters Malmö will run from October 1-6 as part of the Malmö Game Week festival and will have $250,000 on the line. The team list for the Swedish event currently looks as follows:
